Surviving A Divorce By Focusing On You
Have you recently gone through a divorce? Sometimes getting back on your feet may seem like the hardest thing to do. But you have to pick yourself up and get on with your life. You were person before you relationship and you will be one after. The challenge is finding out who that person is.
The first thing to do is to put down the book titled ‘how to get ex back.’ Immediately running back to the ex is no always the solution. Also take back the fancy beauty perfume and no to getting a tattoo that says ‘I’m sorry’. Take this time to think about you rather than her.
High school might actually be a good place to start (but definitely not for your next mate). Pull out your yearbook, and if you can bear to look at the pictures, try to remember what you were like. Is your yearbook full of sketches? Maybe you should take an art class. Were you on the track team? Maybe an afternoon jog might make you feel better. Thinking back to a younger and hopefully happier you can help you discover yourself.
When was the last time you hung out with friends? That is a lot easier to do when you’re not married. If you have friends that did not know your wife that is even better. Getting out and being social will keep your mind off of the divorce. Try your best to have a good time with your friends because that’s what will get you through.
The final thing to do after a divorce is similar to something you did when you got married. In every wedding there should be something old and something new. This saying has new meaning following a divorce. Your husband is something old, and now it’s time to learn something new. Pick up a book or take a class to help develop you. The time spent alone will help all the wounds heal.
Healing from a divorce is all about becoming a whole person again. A marriage is a union of two people into one. Divorce is the painful separation of that union. What results is to people who have been connected but are now individual again. Building that broken individual will make you stronger and happier.
Even though divorce is hard, you can get through it. All you need to do is learn and love yourself. If your spouse was capable of falling in love with you you are too.
