Relaxing At The Mall With Friends.

By rlhutton On May 23, 2010 Under Advice

Perhaps there is something to be said about the complexities of shopping in general. Just last week I called my best friend and arranged a days outing for the two of us. I cannot begin to tell you just how relaxing and enjoyable it was going through the stores and sharing the daily events in our lives with each other.

Her presence just is more enjoyable to be around because she is more relaxed in stores, and the stories that we end up telling to each other. It can leave us helpless with laughter for hours. I am sure there has been times where it has helped me get over many a frustrating incident.

I followed her through the crowds to her favorite clothing store and we shared many things about the events of our week. I ended up sharing the fund raising fiasco my daughters bake sale for the school unintentionally created. It all began with some innocent chocolate chips to be baked into rather chewy cookies.

I pulled out a bowl and started creaming together the sugar and butter. I had her pull out my new kitchenaid hand mixer to beat in the eggs. Anxious to help she had it on before it was plugged in and needless to say the batter ended up all over the place. I helped her clean up the mess and we began again. We sampled a cookie or two before packing them up.

She shared a story about her first experience with her first potluck at her book reading club. She decided to make an Asian stir-fry. She used her rice cooker and began making it with a little more for her husband so that he did not have to make himself something while she was out.

She used her rice cooker for the rice, but when the food was made she needed something to keep it warm. Since the rice cooker had already been used, she decided to just use that to save on dishes later. She had arrived at the potluck with her cooker in tow, only to discover that almost everyone else had brought the same dish in his or her rice cookers.

With our purchases of the day tucked in our arms, we decided to go back to my place where we shared a cup of coffee at one of my dining room table sets. I am sure she enjoyed herself as much as I did. I know I am keen on repeating this day over again.
