Online Dating Service – Which to Choose and Why
Let’s face it. This is a problem for most people. I want to go online and look for someone. I’m even scared a little. I am full of anxiety about exposing myself and all my quirks on the Internet. Maybe people will laugh at me. I am only average looking so nobody will respond. After all nobody likes to be rejected. Looking at all the competition it seems I don’t have a chance.
You need to be honest with yourself and ask the important questions. What am I looking for. Do I have a fetish like having crushes for Military guys or Latinos? There are millions of dating sites on the Internet and if you look hard enough you will find your niche. There are a number of criteria to consider when starting out.
1)The Price: Do I have a budget? Which is better a free site or a paid site? This is an important decision since it probably will determine how successful you might be. Free sites, although very easy on the wallet, are not necessarily the way to go. Every Tom, Dick and Harry will be on the site and most not even close to what you are looking for. I would recommend a paid site. First of all you can narrow down the choices better. The participants are more trustworthy simply because they are putting their money where their mouth is. Women rarely pay to get on the sites as it is they who attract the male population. Prices can range from $19.95 to $39.95 depending upon how specific your niche is.
2) Recommendations: Certainly most people probably have a friend or someone who has done some online dating. Ask them, don’t be shy. If any of them had a bad experience with one of the websites they tried you will know to avoid it. On the other hand they might have a great response from some sites and you can feel more comfortable trying those out if they fit into what you are looking for.
3)Size and Perks: The majority of people stick to the large dating sites. They look first for how many possibilities there are. Some of the sites are huge with a million members or more. What perks does the site offer? Does it have a Chat option or maybe a Video channel for private viewing? How many countries does it expand to? Do they have different price plans? Can you search by age, religion, country, and interest? Do you find it easier to navigate in one site more than others?
4)What do you want? Are you serious and with intent of getting married or is this just a hobby to you. You have to make up your mind as to the end result you are seeking. There are tons of casual dating sites with “no strings attached”. Perhaps you are looking for an Adult site. That is quite different than a Romantic site. Adult sites have little else to sell except casual sex or fetishes. If this is your bag so be it. You can narrow your choices down rather easily. Religion plays a factor for many people. You want to engage with someone who has the same beliefs or church background you do then you can be more specific. Race plays a role for many people who want a mixed marriage or stick to their own race.
Again you need to sit down and perhaps make a list of the items you are looking for in a potential mate. You may feel the need to begin slowly and establish a friendship with someone online for a while before setting up any possible meeting. This is quite common. Remember the more common interests you have the better the chance of success.
5)Your profile: This is where you separate from the masses. What you want in the other person is extremely important. Your own profile must include all the things that make you attractive or clues as to what type of person you are seeking. What about the other person? Do you only want to be seen or date tall men or women? How about the age range? Do you want the person to have a certain income or status level? Do you shy away from anyone who has kids already? Do you mind if someone is already divorced? Do you speak many languages or are you tied to only the one from your country. This can be an important point. How far are you willing to travel to meet? Would you relocate if you think you found the right person. Again these factors play a major role in your decision making.
6)Search Engines: Google, yahoo, and MSN are probably all you will need as far a search engines go. Go to the search field an type in Dating Websites. You will see millions of sites. Now narrow it down to perhaps Senior Dating, Jewish dating, Military dating, Gay dating, Adult dating. You get the picture. The more specifics you type in the more the choices are narrowed down to your criteria.
Look for reviews of the sites you seek. Just type in as an example,” Senior dating and romance”. Then perhaps the country and keep adding to each search you do. After a while you will begin to narrow down the lists to a handful and start spending most of your hours in those sites. Don’t be intimidated. They are looking just like you. They also want a response so be patient. One day your mate will materialize.
