Designing An Affordable Wedding

By rlhutton On September 25, 2010 Under Senior Marriage and Dating

The cost of weddings is now tens of thousands of dollars more than it used to be. It is crazy to consider how much people are willing to spend on one day, but if you think about how special the day is, it is easy to see how people can get wrapped up in the planning and end up with a bloated budget. You want to share the day with everybody in your life who is special and meaningful and that means choosing a space large enough to accommodate them and feeding each and every one of them. While you may want to extend the hospitality and serve the greatest gourmet meal anyone has ever tasted, it is going to cost you a fortune to do so. However, you can put together an affordable dream wedding. The key is prioritizing and deciding what is worth the splurge and what needs to be scaled back. If you had your senior pictures taken at a great Cincinnati photography studio, see if that place is still in business and maybe they can offer you a great deal.

Photographs are a great way to remember your big day. You could cut the cost by eliminating a video in favor of photographs.

Another great way to save if it is important that you have the ceremony and reception you have long dreamed of is to reduce the guest list to your nearest and dearest. You may want to extend an invitation to everyone you have ever met, but the fact is, that gets expensive. If you have a more intimate ceremony and party, it will free up a great deal of cost to put together what you have envisioned. You can spend a little more on clothing and food because you are not sharing the day with hundreds of people.

In some cases, this will free up money for a honeymoon trip. This will be the first week of your married life, so it should be a special getaway for relaxing and connecting.

If the large guest list cannot be compromised, you are going to have to make some choices. Lots of people means simple choices for how everyone is going to celebrate. Consider holding the ceremony and reception at a less formal venue. Serve foods that are more casual Pin nature than an elaborate plated wedding dinner. This is going to save you a bundle and you will be able to share your day with hundreds. Also consider cutting down on the cost of beverages. If the important thing is being surrounded by droves of people, you can still celebrate in a cost effective way.
