Can Long Distance Relationships Work

For many different reasons, more and more people these days are in some sort of long term relationship. With many young people moving away from home to go to college, it is often the case that this age group are the ones in long term relationships.

There is a lot of debate about whether or not long term relationships can actually work. I honestly believe for a number of reasons that they do not work out.

For example, lets look at the idea of a teenage boy living at home. And before moving to college he spends all of his spare time with his girlfriend, the makings of a long distance relationship. The theory is that he will still see his girlfriend in the holidays and then once his studies are finished the relationship can resume.

However as you know men are far more likely to get tempted to cheat at college than women are. It will be very difficult for them to resist temptation what with all the parties and alcohol flowing around.

Usually if men think they can get away with cheating they will do and there’s more chance of getting away with it in a long distance relationship. The only problem with your partner cheating in a long distance relationship is that there’s less chance of finding out about it.

There is also the chance of you going apart from each other in a long term relationship. Spending time away from you partner will meant that you both make new friends and get used to being without each other.

The only time when a long distance relationship can work is if there’s light at the end of the tunnel and it won’t be long distance for too long. It is most probably not going to work if you are going to be apart for several years.

So if you and your partner have recently split up due to long distance then I would seriously consider everything before giving things another try. Don’t just get back with your ex because you’re scared of moving on because while they’re away you’re practically alone anyway.
