Calling Your Friends Or Chatting Online? Which Do You Prefer?

By rlhutton On July 2, 2010 Under Uncategorized

Chatting Online Is More Popular Than Talking On The Phone

With electronics such as laptops, i-pads, and cell phones growing in popularity among millions, chatting online is also gaining popularity. Social networking websites and online messengers make communication online much easier then making a phone call. All you have to have is wired or wireless internet connection.

Once upon a time, the land line phone was the only means of communication between long distance friends and family. Today the land line phone seldom gets used for this. The internet enables people to by-pass the cost of their long distance bills, by allowing them to communicate via email, instant messenger, or social networking websites.

One of the main reasons internet communication is becoming more and more popular is the convenience of it. While it can be difficult to talk via the phone while doing other things, it is easy to multitask when you are online. You can always start and email then come back to it, or leave your instant messenger window open while you handle other business. When it comes to online communication, convenience plays a major role in its growing popularity.

Online messengers come in different forms such as download-able messengers and web based messengers. Download-able messengers usually offer more features and do not require a web browser open in order to communicate. They often have a lot of features, and do not require a web browser for use.

Web based instant messengers do not require a download or take up any space on your hard drive. They do require your web browser to be open in order to work effectively. You just have to have an account and be logged in.

People are choosing online chatting over phone chatting for many different reasons. It is not only easier to multitask while chatting online, but there are many other factors that make it more convenient. Very few people actually make regular telephone calls to their friends anymore. Most people are choosing to communicate online instead.
