Blind Dates Versus Dating Online

Your friend has found out that you need help with your social interactions so she associates you with a blind date – a friend of a friend of a friend. You, thoughtlessly, take it on.  Now there you are. It’s just one hour from the moment you were introduced.  You are sitting in a Thai restaurant but you do not like Thai food.  The entre has not yet been supplied.  His idea of enlightened conversation is who will be in the ultimate four. You aren’t into watching sports. He knows the weekly TV schedule verbatim, you haven’t seen a movie in months since you run marathons and help at the community food bank. He states, ‘Doing volunteer work is a waste of time since you can’t help ‘those people’ anyhow.’ You look at your watch; you see that it’s just been 10 minutes since you last checked it previously and wonder how long it will be till you can gracefully remove yourself from the scenario.

Now assume a meeting with someone you met through internet dating and have been socializing online with and exchanging emails with for a while. First, you don’t have to be introduced.  You previously know this man.  You are sitting in an Italian restaurant experiencing a delightful meal since you both are aware that the other’s well-liked is Italian. The conversation flows easily as you discuss common passions.  He runs marathons and enjoys history just like you do. You happily discuss the volunteer work that each of you is involved in. You look at your watch and realize that it is late very late “where has the time passed’.

There is a major difference between a good friend ‘setting you up and finding a man for yourself who shares your beliefs and tastes, isn’t there?  So now which one would you want to have?
